They show the Mewtwo encounter in the trailer.
How is it supposed to make sense if you don't fight him?

Is it going to be "Mewtwo appears, throw the ball to catch"?

I'm starting to think that the go mechanic is only a marketing thing and that you'll be able to call your Pokémon for battle using the "Help" menu.
Like "fast catch" as opposed to "normal catch" for harder Pokémon.

I'm sure they put a lot of effort in catching so that it won't be boring. You either use Pokémon or items like in safari (and even Go).

I'm 99% sure the Help menu is just there to tell kids how to throw a Pokeball, there's no way they would put the "Control Pokemon" option below fucking items. If you actually controlled your Pokemon in a wild in counter, we'd know about it, but this is GO mechanics and GO doesn't let you use your Pokemon for capturing.

He watches for every other wild encounter in the game, tell me why you think this is going to be different.

Yes, just like GO, just like every other wild encounter. He'll escape the Pokeball, do some animation and his cry, then repeat again. The thing about throwing the Pokeball is that unlike GO, where you have to kind of aim your finger at the Pokemon, you just need to flick your wrist with the Joycon. They fucking advertised that the whole game can be played with a single Joycon, a Joycon has 4 fucking buttons outside of R and ZR. You're an idiot for thinking this Mewtwo fight is going to be anything more than a glorified cutscene.

There is no HP bar on any Wild Pokémon, this there is 0% you can fight them.

The only option I see working is have you battle them normally, KO them, then go to the catch screen. It's a compromise but still shit since the whole challenge that comes with catching a Legendary is getting them as low as possible without killing them and also making sure your Pokemon don't die first. It's the whole reason Mewtwo having Recover was so troublesome. KOing a legendary with an endgame team will take exactly 2 or 3 turns, what a joke.

In the situation in the picture you can do multiple things.
1. Throw your pokeball with the joycon.
2. Choose "Get ready" lets you pick a Pokemon from your team. The first Pokemon will no longer be the first one to enter a fight. (This only applies to wild encounters)
3. Choose "items" to use Berries or switch to special pokeballs.
4. Chose "help" to open the Pokedex. This gives you information about the Pokemon. It also helps new players with types.

These are wrong. "Get Ready" means the circle for throwing the Pokeball appears, notice how it's not around Psyduck? Because in the cap the player hasn't selected "Get Ready" yet. If you actually battled, your Pokemon would already be our, or you would select "Fight","

There's no battling wild Pokemon, get it through your head.

That's wrong. You have to press a button on the joycon and release it when you want to let go of the ball.

Your Pokemon isn't out yet, because you can choose which one you want to use to have a type advantage. Beginners can choose help to see what type has an advantage/disadvantages. It's also faster now if you want to run away because you don't have to wait for your Pokemon to get out.
