>>35719954I actually feel like it didn’t do enough to fix TFA’s mistakes. I mean part of the problem with TFA was that there was no worldbuilding whatsoever and the audience was basically left in the dark as to the context of anything, and TLJ basically exacerbates this issue to the point where it no longer feels like a universe, and it now feels like the entire conflict is confined to a single drawn out chase scene. Whereas Rian totally had the opportunity to really sit the audience down, have the galaxy react to the events of TFA to provide some context, but instead it goes straight into the action and tells us things that we never actually see and are just forced to accept.
I guess what I’m saying is that Rian had a chance to orient the audience and instead chose to double down on a lot of the flaws of TFA.
