If original characters (not clones) taking limited development time is a factor to consider, I hope there are no new Pokemon, Mario or Fire Emblem characters. There are a shitload of them already.

Because everyone from Zelda who weren't in Smash already were either one game chumps, or not important enough. The exception is Sheik and that's only because she was part of Zelda. If I had my way we'd get classic blue pig Ganon as a new separate character.

If Sakurai can make a unique fighter to represent something that hasn't been done in Smash, he will. If he can represent an aspect of the fighter's original series through that he also will.

Eevee is the evolution Pokemon and...he could definitely make a gimmick around that.

That was off the top of my head, Sakurai could easily do that gimmick.

I don't see it happening. The Smash contenders for this cycle are more than likely Mimikyu, Incineroar, and a Lycanroc. Maybe a UB.
