You can hate on this game, but honestly can anyone say that this isn't a brilliant move by Nintendo? It will renew the Pokemon GO fever and is almost guaranteed to make more money than the 2019 core game

Go, for casuals, will never again just be the new fresh thing anymore where you can catch Pokemon.

I don't think it will sell more than the 2019 game either, just by the sole virtue of having less Pokemon.

GO is consistently in the top 5 highest grossing games and has the largest playerbase of any mobile game outside candy crush and clash of clans. And THIS ANNOUNCEMENT just boosted that playerbase, let alone once the game comes out. GO will have a resurgence and it'll be GO mania again when this comes out. I don't think it'll sustain that hype forever but it'll definitely become a lot more common
