I’m curious what these games mean for the anime, it doesn’t look like they’re adding anything new to Kanto, so there doesn’t seem to be a point to leave Alola yet. But considering most of it has been filler, can they really fit even more filler till late 2019?

Probably just Kanto character cameos in Alola or travelling to Kanto for a special again.
I don't understand why Duplica hasn't reappeared in the anime, considering her Ditto leads a particularly popular merchandise line. This is her chance. It's also a good chance for a character with an Eevee to reappear, both Virgil from Unova and Mikey from Kanto have an Eevee that refuses to evolve.
