Look at the facts. this is a Pokemon Yellow Remake with a very limited Pokedex, fun casual-audience targeted features, and simplified game-play compared to Pokemon's traditional retardedly complex hidden mathematics stat system.
They even clarified that 2019 will have the actual Gen 8 game we are accustomed too. GameFreak/Pokemon Company are only calling it a "mainline" game because marketing it as anything otherwise is financial suicide.
I for one look forward to what will likely be the last journey in Kanto for a while as they can't justify it again for at least another decade.
