They're already forcing yearly games and having fucking trouble keeping up with it. When this shit sells like wildfire and the others don't they will drop the one selling less to focus once they realize they can't keep up with the workload.
Even giving you the best possible mindset for them - granting that they honestly aren't trying to get out of doing work for boatloads of money. Which is nonsense if you've been here the last 10 years or just read some of Masuda's interviews over the last 5 but granting it anyway... Even starting out from an honestly good mindset it won't stick. Can't stick.
This is why the Switch is what it is. Nintendo knows they can't deal with more than one system. All it does is cause droughts because it makes both take longer to get games out for whereas if all of the shit can be released on one system, there's no drought.
The same will happen here, especially since while it's happening more slowly than most they're steadily embracing graphicfaggotry. They will not have time to deal with two 3D games and keep them coming regularly thus the REAL main series will be cut.
The only way it MIGHT do better is if they bring back ALL of the content dropped over the years and add this kind of playstyle as an easy mode to them which it should've been to begin with. Would have been to begin with if their plan wasn't to nix it for this garbage.
