I get where that logic comes from but let's get real: this is business first and foremost. You can expect in business for something to be tailored to your tastes when you have a signed contract on your hands that labels all the things you want. But for a regular consumer there are literally no guarantees that their money will earn them some later expectations.
There's only a handful of actions one can do to better the situation:
a) Switch attention to some other producer;
b) Buy into the original producer's influence over the product creation process;
c) Create your own product as you see fit;
d) Abandon said product altogether and save money/time/effort/health.
But that's like common truth I'm not sure I even needed to lay all of this down.
