I still go by eeveelutions.
eeveelutions = canine/feline mixtures (smaller variants like pet species and foxes)

that is something pokemon does all the time.
they add mystery while they sure could reveal the mystery but they decide to let fans speculate and make theories or even fight about them. this way pokemon always stays in discussion and a hot topic.

arcanine is no legendary even though it was once planned as such.
I don't deny that those are dogs in the demo, but that does not mean we know what they decided about them alter on.
