I feel like if the scrapped designs were actually finalized, the franchise would've turned out much different. There were a lot more abstract/demonic designs that would never fit in the modern design philosophy.

I don't understand what Shedinja has to do with this. Both the unused mon and M-Pinsir have the feeling of completed Pinsir, so I don't feel it was misrepresented.

It still has most of the ideas of Mantine such as having a cute face despite being a shark and the back being darker coloration and with mimic eyes to ward off prey. Just most extreme compared to the final version and lacking the equipped Remoraid guns.
