>>35760175I adore Kanto and LGPE just isn't capturing what I loved about the original Pokemon. If they wanted to do something nice they would've really looked at the art for the games and TCG and anime and tried to base something off of that. Maybe try and capture some of the charm of the entire Generation 1 experience instead of just kind of doing this. I mean it's meant for the Go crowd so I really can't complain too much as I doubt the game is really aimed at me; I'd just like to see them put some love into capturing what made the originals good. FRLG and HGSS were both wonderful recreations of the source materials but ORAS didn't feel too Hoenn to me at all.
Again it's a game for the Go audience. I hope Pokemon hits another high point; Gen 6 was kinda whatever and Gen 7 was a'ight but kind of flawed. I'm hoping things continue to get better but if not I'm pretty content with just dropping Pokemon and moving to SMT or something. It's been a good 15 years or so of being a fan, I suppose.
Gen 2 betas are dope though. I'll say that a lot of the designs didn't feel "Pokemon" to me but at the same time, it was the first sequel so they probably didn't have much to go off of. I'm looking forward to playing the whole thing; it's really does feel like a whole new generation set on old technology, and it makes me pretty happy. Some of those designs were absolutely awesome too; I adore both of the """"new"""" starter lines.
