>>35763211>"Normie" is a term invented by incels/social outcasts to justify their horrible personalities/attitudes.Sounds about right.
>The term refers to... normal people.Referred. The word has taken on new meaning since. While it still holds the same target, normal people, it isn't about the well adjusted as much as it is about being part of the in group and takes on different meanings in different subcultures. Ultimately, it means casual.
/tg/ uses normie to refer to the beer and pretzel gamer. The self proclaimed 'critter' who refuses to play anything other than d&d 5e. The table that cheers at the sight of a 20, even in the most mundane situation.
i believe that /vp/'s normie is poorly defined, due to the multitude of ways people experience pokemon as a franchise.
In consumer cultures, the normie typically doesn't appreciate the property for it's merits and potential, merely the spectacle. Because of this, the normie is the enemy, because they outnumber the in-group and their desires are more important to the bottom line. The content becomes casualised, streamlined, loses its nuance. No longer is a product a series of highs and lows, but it becomes a dwindling high that drifts lower and lower into monotony The in-group doesn't care that other people like what they like, in fact it's the opposite. The in-group cares that the normie does not in fact like the same thing they do, and they fear that the content will change to suit the normies, and they will lose the thing that appealed to them.
Of course, in a culture built around self pity and social disfunction, the normie would be the healthy and the popular, and i wouldn't ever suggest otherwise. But your oversimplification of the term as to BTFO the detractors of LGPE is disingenuous at best.
