You can have a spin-off and a main in the same year if made by different companies you can't expect GF to deliver 2 games in one year, they can't deliver 1 game in 2 years. So unless they are confident the 2019 games will absorb 100% of the Let's Go players they won't split the series.

It wouldn't be impossible. Three years for hardcore games since they take more development, and yearly releases for Let's Go games to keep the casuals amused, they'd probably keep the same aesthetic and everything, just change the region and mons, that's save a lot of time/work.

Why can they not learn the core series mechanics? They seem to have gotten bored with GO already. At least the inclusion of battles in LGPE will sort of ease them into using type advantages and such. Gen 8 will probably have the thing on the move menu where you can see what moves are effective and what aren't. Pokemon's learning curve is very shallow.

I can't see anything good about them splitting the series. Not as long as GF is involved in the Let's Go games. They could hardly manage to release finished products before as it was. Now with their focus split into two, we'll just get more unfinished, even smaller games.

That's basic thinking. Go did well because it's free, and most people don't realize how much money they pump into it because micro transactions are cheap. I put ten dollars into it for some pokeballs before thinking why the fuck did I do that, that's 1/6 of a game. Most don't get that thought because it's easy and convenient.

People beg in comments for paid apps to be free. They aren't used to paying for a game up front.

these children adore minecraft despite the game mandating dozens of hours of experimentation and outside research to really make any decent progress

perhaps this game will be more open and welcoming to just fooling around your way to pokemon mastery

I think Fortnite is popular because of the bright colors, character designs, and addictive nature of finding rare weapons/treasures hidden in the world. All of those concepts are what Pokemon is supposed to be. If LGPE had Gen 1 mechanics (aside from all the glitches) which removed convoluted things that make the "hardcore" games inaccessible like EVs, IVs, Natures, chain breeding, etc. I could see it doing rather well. Someone on /vp/ said it before that Pokemon is pretty much the only game that actually becomes LESS fun the more you understand how it works, and that's because of all the bloated aspects that have been tacked on with almost every game since Gen 3.

IVs and EVs are a thing since gen one, they were implement to allow players to have dfferent experinces even if they are using the same pokemon, the same goes to natures later.
If it wasn't for the deeper mechanics of pokemon there is no reason to enjoy the game when you are older

Probably because you have to sit through 20 minutes of cutscenes and tutorials before even getting a Pokemon. The older games had less than five minutes of exposition before you got to go off on your own adventure. They were much more "pick up and play."
