Since the Porygon episode basically led to its exclusion from the anime forever, why did they go on to continue it's line with not only one but two evolutions?

Always confused me, although Porygon 2 is one of my favourites

Honestly, though? It wasn't even Porygon that cause all the seizures, it was Pikachu. Porygon just ended up getting the heat for the franchise's mascot.

Um, not it's not the same thing. Porygon is about anime, Eq is about banning move in the anime leaving it untouched in games.

They didn't want people to forget it, they wanted to avoid causing seizures again (otherwise it wouldn't still be in the Pokerap), so it didn't matter what they did in the games. Though it wasn't actually Porygon's fault anyway, but that's beside the point.

They keep the games separate from other forms of media. One can use wathever pokemon or move they want in the games so it's not like they get direct exposure like an anime episode featuring them.
Kadabra has also stopped appearing in the tcg and anime after its inspiration threatened with suing them.

Well the chances for introducing it in that type of storyline are already over
if they brought it back the best way would be as a silly, seemingly harmless pokemon that unexpectedly wrecks pikachu
heck now would even be a good moment to introduce it, conversion-z could work well in anime format as well with it "absorbing the power of the Z-crystal into it's body" and from then onwards acting as a pseudo-mega

At this point I doubt anyone would care if they did bring Porygon back into the anime, but they have no real reason to risk the potential bad press.

well there are at least some people with influence at GF that actually like Porygon
it would have been easy to just let it slip into obscurity but then they actually went and gave it an extra evolution and now in the latest gen they went out of their way to buff it's signature move
not to mention he often appears on teams of relatively major characters

Actually, given the focus on alternate dimensions, there's plenty of ample opportunities to have Z in. At this point though it might be for the best that Porygon is retconned out of the anime world, since when Ash actually encountered it it was a new invention and now by the current date it's considered obsolete.

Yes journalists. Everyone knows that Porygon2 appearing is news worthy. There's bad press around the corner if they show Porygon2 or Z. Same with Kadabra and the card game.

Games and Anime are separate in a lot of ways really, even more so when you're talking about the legal and business side.
If part of the controversy had been Porygon causing seizures in the games, even as a strong but false rumour, then they'd probably of dropped any plans for evolutions.
