What if there's more to it than that.

What if... they're sneakily hiding Gen 8 Pokemon in there.

What if they're basing Gen 8 pokemon on these beta concepts, like Twins and Farigiraf and Animon and Panshii. And this is to get us hyped when we see them.

So instead of going "Aaaugh this design is horrible" we'd go "AAAAAAA I RECOGNIZE THAT"

It's from a Japanese collector who died. TCRF got a hold of some other prototypes too, though none as big or interesting as this one. They'll likely spring up in the coming months.

Despite it being coincidentally around the tiem other beta stuff was revealed and the new game, it's just that. The thing is rare and lost stuff does get found in people's basements all the time. This is one of those cases.

The whole reason they don't and aren't bragging about this is because they have the prototypes on loan from a Japanese store. They aren't going to publically state that when the whole point is to try to be discreet with the prototypes. That was what they were trying to do with the GSC prototype, but it ended up leaking completely against their will because some guy in a minecraft server threatened to blackmail a tranny or something.

I don't know which leaker you're referring to though. If you're talking about the one who actually gave everyone the roms, he wouldn't since he wasn't involved with the project, he just got the rom and released it to everyone, forcing tcrf to release it early. If you're referring to the one guy who came her to talk about it, then again he's not going to divulge the specifics to us for the reasons I just explained.

I can certainly guarantee you that this isn't of Gamefreak's doing. Japanese companies, especially Gamefreak, aren't keen on people seeing their unfinished work. It's sloppy, gives certain expectations, it's not anything they really want to deal with. Consider just how few scrapped Pokemon we've ever seen. It's certainly never because Gamefreak wants to EXPLICITLY show us cut Pokemon. The few times they talk about it they don't actually show us, it's extremely rare.

Again, the store or whoever got the prototypes wants multiple degrees of separation so they don't have to worry about legal trouble. Hence sending it overseas.
