As far as design elements go, just looking at Pidgey you can see it has small claws on its talons, ruffled feathers that serve to make it look more fluffy and layered, and of course, the typical gen 1 eye style.
For Pikipek, the eyes immediatly stand out, having a stranger pupil with a blue area around it, and no sclera (unless that is the blue, which is stranger still). The beak itself is a cone broken up into two clean segments, and all of the other areas of its body have extremely clean, crisp lines dividing its colors. It has a singular tail feather, rather than several like Pidgey does. Its feet have no real talons to speak of, and instead of ruffled feathers like pidgey has, it has a small pointed bib of sorts, as well as simple curves to make up its wings.
They look very different and out of place from one another. Pidgey looks more real, because it has more detail to many of its features. Pikipek is based on something more real, since it's specifically a woodpecker rather than a generic bird like pidgey is.
They don't look like they belong in the same world as much as they could, wheras if you took a normal woodpecker and put it next to a pidgeon, you would note them having the actual similarities where pidgey and pikipek are different, such as having actual feathers and claws.
