The funny thing is that I was mostly playing that run during the day rather than at night, so I was stuck with an unevolved Chingling until - wait for it - I was
ascending Mt. Coronet to get to Spear Pillar.I was honestly shocked by how well it managed to hold its own, even without evolving (nor being overleveled - it was the same level as my other team members). It wasn't getting to be a problem until maybe a Badge earlier. People aren't kidding when they say you can REALLY use whatever you want for the main story of most games.
That said, it kinda fell apart by the League, which is obviously less balanced in Pearl than in Platinum.
Said team also included a Kricketune, as well as a Lumineon, which for some reason I thought was a Special attacker and gave completely wrong moves accordingly. That was a fun run.
