>>35789279>Lapras Probably the most prevalent gift Pokemon after the starters. You get it during a very crucial point in your journey (Silph Co.). It is the easiest Water/Ice Pokemon you can get, but there's only one per game. Lapras is the signature Pokemon of Lorelei. Ash had one in the anime. Lapras were similarly difficult to get in Gen II (Union Cave, Fridays, one only), and Gen III (FRLG; cave with 1% encounter rate after post-game). Every other game since always made Lapras so fucking difficult to get, with even USUM making them a 5% encounter rate in very specific surfing areas on Poni. Lapras was also used as a Ride Pokemon for most of the game.
>Farfetch'dThere is only one available in most of Gen I (aside from Yellow). It is the only Normal/Flying Pokemon in Gen I that isn't part of an evolutionary family. Farfetch'd is exclusive to trade, and it is infamous for being a completely shitty deal. You trade a Spearow for one, but Fearow has significantly more potential than Farfetch'd. Farfetch'd appears good on the surface because it is an already fully-evolved Pokemon and stronger than the Spearow you traded away, but it sucks in the long run. Farfetch'd had a role in Gen II where you need to find one to get Cut. Farfetch'd had a special item, the Stick. In Gen VI, the first trade Pokemon is Farfetch'd, but unlike the Gen I counterpart it is actually pretty fucking useful for the first gym.
