FRLG was too much like its originals. FRLG needed some extra oomph before hitting the postgame. It really suffered from the stupid "lol no Crobat/Blissey till postgame lmao" and almost all the big differences were present during the postgame. FRLG, unlike HGSS didn't really attempt to fix its issues. Even ORAS attempted to fix some of its issues that it had.

I know you're being a contrarian for the sake of it, but with how Game Freak is currently acting, I don't know if I even want a special Battle Facility from them anymore considering the current meta blows. This is the unfortunate truth. The Pokédex is great and there’s a nice variety of locales at least at the beginning and midpoint of the game but the trainer battles are mind numbingly mediocre and the last half of the game is embarrassingly bad. Open sea routes are fucking agonizingly bad. Emerald does a lot to fix this, but Team Smegma are both the most boring teams to fight and I honestly wish they weren’t in the game at all.
