>>35791162I liked SM as a whole, and never played USUM.
Moon has flaws, but all in all regardless of what /vp/ says, I can't deny that I had fun playing it and that's all that matters really. The only cutscenes that bothered me were pre-starter picking and pre-koko capture; those felt too long considering I just wanted to get my pokemon. Everything else was fine. I love ultra beasts, I love most mons in alola, I love the human characters, I love the music, and all in all I just had a genuinely good time. As for SM's flaws (and USUM's by extension) that matter to me, I found:
>Wicke, Plumeria and Guzma had minuscule roles in the storyI would have liked to see WAY more of them, it felt like they were just there. Guzma not doing anything during the lusaminilego battle was disappointing. In USUM, these problems weren't fixed, lusamine's role was altered in a way I didn't like when I found out about it, and the ultra retcon squad, while promising, only had like FOUR lines and a battle. I would have loved to see more of their world, have more info on them, anything really. Rainbow rocket was lackluster despite the good intentions.
>Z-moves were meh for the most partI like the concept of fully animated nukes but the "typium-z" name for the crystals and most of the z-move names were just too silly. "Bloom doom" is amazing, "Soul stealing seven star strike" not so much. In top of that, they were really overkill: I had groundium on my mudsdale but never felt like using it since earthquake already oneshots what it needs to by itself.
>Ultra spaceThis is an SM flaw in the sense that it wasn't there to begin with, and mainly an USUM flaw otherwise since despite gamefreak having a cool idea for once (visiting alien pokemon on their alien worlds), they didn't do as much as they could. And I don't mean these worlds being corridors, I was already counting on gamefreak being that level of lazy. But stakataka and blacephalon NOT having one is what really disappointed me.
