Yeah but that was like a mistake that got almost carried on with to the next generation.
Ivysaur never been shown on two legs in any artwork or the anime/manga.

The point was is that they drew Ivysaur standing on its two legs which was never seen in any of its artworks or any media, this wasn't about which is canon.
Heck, even the Gen1 dex says Bulbasaur loses the ability to stand on its two legs after it evolves.

Red and Blue was their second attempt at spriting it, not their first, if Gold Silver demo predate Yellow then it would be the third time, seems like the anime pushed the mon as quadruped, not a mistake

But the front sprites show the opposite and Red/Blue's Ivysaur's back sprite shows it on 4 legs.

it's like the team who did the front sprites are different than the one who did the back sprites and neither were unsure on whether if Bulbasaur/Ivysaur gonna be on 2 or 4 legs for ingame presentation.
