You know, I keep hearing this.
Only the first 151 Pokemon matter, only the first 151 Pokemon are good designs etc etc
And let's leave aside the "it's a Pokeball" "it's a upside down Pokeball" "it's a fucking magnet with eyes" and "it's just some eggs" memes aside
The first gen in a whole..only has like 50 Pokemon that matter, even less when I consider who really are popular (first 3/4 tiers in the pic related I made)
You have Pokemon like Pikachu, Eevee and the Kanto starters that are obviously super popular and there is no denying it

But you also have stuff like Dodou and Venonant and Seel and Tangela and Weepinbel that no one honestly gives a damn about them and yet they are part of the "original 151"
It's just that to me the original 151 is just "the most popular 50 Pokemon from the original 151" and that's it
