No, but seriously, that's not happening. Switch was said to be the replacement for both long before.
They may lie to everyone else to keep them buying the old shit, but they're not lying to their investers. Especially not when they combined their handheld and console dev teams just after that in preparation for having only one system meaning they were following through on that statement.
There will almost certainly be handheld only variants of the Switch that release alongside/around Gen 8 but no standalone.
They know they cannot do that anymore. They cannot focus on two systems. Every time they did focus on one, the other went through a drought because even with lesser graphics etc. as Nintendo does, it takes more time to develop games than it used to.
There is no time for two systems if they want to keep a steady influx of games on the Switch, which they do.
And for the same reason GF will drop the real main series Pokémon for the Let's go shit once casuals buy the fuck out of it and they realize it's too much to keep making the other games alongside it. Why sell 25 one year and 8 the next when you could sell 25 every year? Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional, retarded, naive, ignorant of Game Freak's recent bullshittery or some combination of the four.
