Wheter the current games are good or not, lacking in content or not, we all regard one of the old games as our old trusty one, our favorite, the one we personally think is the best.

I've never seen such a fine sequel for any videogame that actually improves in everything.
Johtoh feels super warm and oriental enough without being weaboo. The 2nd generation of pokemon was treated as an expansion rather than a new compulsory addition and is the gen with the least ammount of hated designs (for me at least). The legendaries felt more involved with the world too or at least, more than the previous game too and by default is one of the most content packed games. Game Freak was right when they thought the wouldn't top it, I have never felt this good playing other pokemon games. While I feel done with most of them, I can always go back to SS or even Crystal and explore both regions and the Frontier with new teams each time.
