>>35808932>they could easily have continued that but without the need to take up a move slot. No, they couldn't. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but Pokémon isn't a top-down 2D Sprite game anymore. The Overworld uses a 1:1 scale ratio now, with Pokémon that actually look the right size when walking around or being ridden on.
They don't use random amorphous blobs and action shots of your static Pokémon anymore, and thank god, because that shit looks cheap as fuck, and if they went back to it just for the sake of making autists feel like their team is doing more when pushing rocks, it would suck.
>why don't they just do both! Why would GF waste dev time to make two seperate machanics that do the exact same thing, one objectively looking much cheaper and worse, just so some autists like us are satisfied?
And please don't get me wrong, in a dream game I would love it if most-if-not-all Pokémon were fully moddeled, animated and useable to ride and interact with the overworld, but that simply isn't a realistic expectation, nor the most pressing matter for upcoming Pokémon games. I know some people are convinced the Let's Go version of Ride Pokémon will let you use your own party because it comes hand-in-hand with following Pokémon, but I personally just wouldn't expect it. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it happened, but again, it's not a realistic expectation or something you should put so much gravity on if you ask me. Even if Let's Go had it work like that, Kanto makes up less than 1/4 of the entire National Dex, so I still wouldn't expect that level of Pokémon interactivity to extend into Gen 8 and beyond.
