It only took about 3 or 4 generations of selective breeding for foxes to start acting and looking like dogs.
The foxes were selected for friendliness towards humans, and the other changes happened on their own.

THey're also wrong because it's partially based on the honey badger as it evolves.

Honey badgers are also known as RATel. Saying they aren't in line with the zodiac is something they say only because Game Freak went above and beyond with the references while they're often stupidly thinking they only have one inspiration despite almost all Pokémon having at least 2 and 3 or more isn't uncommon.
