>>35819313I suppose the previous could've been a way to reinvigorate the type theme, but I think it would be better suited for a themed area, which already exists in pokemon. (only without the random task part) Anyway, the puzzles didn't seem right to me. There could very well be another context they could fit in, but not for this. What DO I want, then? We need to go back to the roots of what this was emulating. Dungeons. A large area with a boss at the end. There's lots of ways to do this, and it could even still contain puzzles, too, just not as prevalent.
The last thing I wanted to consider was the nature of the bosses themselves. These are 8 no stakes battles to get into the League. This would not be altered if it was treated like in real life and was a series of tournaments. It's all so empty, and their blandness only magnifies the matter. There has to be some other way we can have bosses in this game, and have it still be relevant. I'm not saying to abandon the trainer aspect, but I do not believe it should be the focus. Give us something we have a reason to be fighting. Give us something that there is something at stake for. I also believe this would open it to having different kinds of bosses, and not just being limited to the 8. (well, it wasn't really limited to that to start with, but you know what I mean)
I'm done with gyms. I'm done with the excessive puzzles. I'm done with the bland type themes. We were promised change, and we got it, but it wasn't enough. The idea must be expanded. We must break the structure altogether. If not, then at least do something other than the type themes with it.
