Going from one series with multiple releases to two each generation would be insane without a massive bump in staff. And yet, they've still got the same small staff they've had for well over a decade and resist growth.
If LGPE is more successful, even outrage from core fans is unlikely to change their minds. Not to mention they've been trying to casualize the games for years anyway. Game Freak's eye is already on casuals no matter how that impacts us.
