I think it could work if they had some sort of sneak mechanic so you can sneak up on a pokemon to battle it. Stuff like that would make the world feel a lot more alive.

Timid rare mons run away from you while aggressive common ones run towards you.

I agree anon. I like the idea of overworld Pokemon, and I think they can do some interesting stuff. Like have certain ones be more aggressive and chase you, or others afraid and run away from you, but you have to sneak to get them. I think it could be really neat if they do it right.

overworld encounters may be the best or the worst thing in the game

if you cant lvl up from wild pokemon you dont have a reason for second encounter

I wouldn't mind this mechanic if we actually get maps and dungeons that are expansive enough (not even BotW tier) to make the Pokemon look apart of the atmosphere instead of being cluttered models in some shitty cave like we see in Let's Go. Nothing about this looks good so far.

This "sounds" good, but in reality you wouldn't want to be walking through a forest and a bunch of the most aggressive natured Pokemon come at you in swarms.

If there’s enormous fields looking for a rare pokemon would be more fun, but they would force battles like in XY powerplant, which really annoys players.
