Why were DPP so slow? Jesus, it can't be because of the DS, HGSS felt faster and BW/BW2 were fine.

I've never understood the surfing speed complaints in any of the Gen IV games, you're very rarely surfing in any of them. Might be right on this one, but either way it's still nothing compared to how slow DP were.

No, they're not. I actually booted up my Platinum cart and SS cart and checked it out just now, the surfing speed and text speed is pretty much identical. The bag has a different (better, to be honest) layout so you're comparing different things there. Maybe you should've checked youtube vids first before making stupid claims.

pretty sure it's referenced in USUM, anon. Regardless, the fact is that Iwata pretty much saved Gamefreak's collective asses during gen 2 so it's pretty clear they're a hot mess as devs

I'm surprised nobody brings up the deep snow and deep mud that Gen 4 introduced. Diamond and Pearl literally introduced routes where the entire gimmick was making it a slow chore to walk through.

It needed speeding up in the surfing, text speed, the snow and mud travel, and certain pokemon moves. The only times I was actually annoyed by the pacing was the snow and surfing. I actually kinda enjoyed the longevity of the game.
