Injecting bottle caps is like giving your Pokemon steroids to give them the edge, because you know everyone's doing it and you know it's best for them. Injecting the whole Pokemon destroys any attachment and ruins shinies

Agreed. I can see why people inject, but working using what the game provides and breeding my own perfect IV/shiny Pokemon is incredibly satisfying. I know that injecting isn't "technically" cheating so long as you make a Pokemon that would otherwise be completely legal in the game, but it still feels cheat-y all the same.

And it's incredibly obnoxious when injectors mock other players for earning their Pokemon through legitimate means. Fuck off, Pokemon was made to be played more than one way.

every time I catch an interesting shiny with shit stats I just think "I'll bottlecap it" . Bottlecap is the best thing that was introduced in Gen 7.

On top of that, being able to SEE your Pokemon's IVs instead of decrypting some weird guy's quotes is another great gen 7 feature. If I go through a whole box of eggs, I can just scroll through and see which ones have the best stats, instead of calculating numbers on my computer through some IV calculating site, or by talking to some NPC.

You don't have to worry about IVs if you're bottlecapping, otherwise that there would be the best thing introduced in Gen 7. SM did good things for normies to get competitive worthy mons.

I enjoy breeding and bottle capping. Sometimes I've hatched a shiny that was missing a crucial IV, and I'd just get it to level 100 and bottle cap that last IV.

A combo of the best updates, then.

I keep forgetting silver caps exist since I just fish for gold ones, and abuse the breed rng so that I get the genes I want. I haven't managed to hatch a shiny since it's such a slow method, so I just have gold caps for my random shines.

Is it? You can get them - even gold ones - through fishing in bubbling spots, you can get them from 30 wins at the Battle Tree, you can get them in the haunted house and lottery in the Festival Plaza, and you can exchange colored shards for them at the Plaza castle.

I see. I breed or SOS for my shinies, and use the methods above for silver caps to fix any bad IVs. I hold on to my gold ones in case I find a random shiny.

i just cloned shit ton of rattatas holding gold bottlecaps
Nothing wrong with that. Im not injecting or hacking pokemon - im doing /breeding them myself.
But man fuck that shitty chance of getting bottlecaps.
I'd rather make whole bunch of them and proceed to legal training.

I recommend you to do the same.

My bad IV pokes end up being all-or-nothing. I think I only have two things needing one silver (a legend and a wormhole shine) and eight or nine requiring 3+ silver, so gold is most efficient.

Just do the lottery trick in Plaza, get a VIP with a 2* treasure hunt and keep removing and rebuilding it and the first win is always a bottle cap. You can get a ton of them completely legitimately in no time for not too many FC. Personally I feel like if you’re injecting the bottle caps it undermines everything legit about it and you may as well inject the whole Pokémon.

I thought the entire point of these caps was to make it possible to get decent IVs on legendaries. Using it on a standard mon' is a waste.
