>>35832170Gen 6: Okay, now the REAL pandering begins. Game Freak realize their games could sell more if they cash in that big ol nostalgia check. Mega's act like an extreme version of Gen 4's cross-gen evos, and Kanto is getting most of them. Viridian Forest is completely remade, as is the subplot about Snorlax, and the birds/Mewtwo being in the post-game. Kalos's Dex was so overstuffed that the new Pokémon end up getting drowned out by the old ones, and you guessed it, Kanto is the biggest offender, with basically its entire Dex in Kalos, absolutely dwarfing the newcomers.
Gen 7: Gen 7, whether you want to admit it or not, doesn't actually have as much Kanto pandering as Gen 6. Your trainer is from Kanto, and the "Alola Form" Pokémon are based on Kanto, and Red/Blue/Rocket returns (along with the villains of every otehr team) but besides that it was a fresh experience that balanced its fanservice to previous games ratehr equally. They also had the banner of "20th Anniversary" to justify the Kanto Pandering they did have, and are ending the Generation with a remake.
Gen 8: Theoretically, with the 20th Anniversary over and Kanto remakes ending Gen 7, Gen 8 should be mostly void of Kanto Pandering. There's simply not much else they can do. You'll notice that they never gave a Cross-Gen Evo/Mega/Alola Form to a Pokémon that already had another form (besides Eevee who's gimmick is more evolutions), and hilariously enough, this means the entire Kanto Dex has already almost been used. There's only a small handful of Gen 1 Pokémon left they could even consider giving an upgraded form, unless they start to double up. With the Let's Go remakes right before the new Gen, there will be no reason for them to repeat things like X/Y did with layouts, side quests and Legendaries (Game Freak never lets the same legends be caught in back-to-back games)
