Alolan Persian - any misspelling of Garfield. The stupider the better.
Arcanine - Komainu (Lion-dogs from Japanese mythology)
Alakazam - U-Mos (Charater from Metroid Prime 2)
Machamp - Star Platinum (JoJo Stand)
Victreebel - Nepenthes (Scientific name for pitcher plants)
Dodrio - Clarence (from that one comic)
Gengar - Cheshire (He's got a Cheshire Cat grin)
Kingler - Karkinos (Big ol' crab from Greek mythology and also 5th boss of The Ocean Hunter)
Hitmonchan - Saitama (Protagonist of One Punch Man)
Weezing - Jupiter (Gas giant)
Rhydon/Rhyperior - RHYYYYYYYYYY (JoJo meme)
Tangela/Tangrowth - Nago (First thing to be cursed in Princess Mononoke. Covered in worms.)
Starmie - Shuri (Shuriken)
Jynx - Mama Uba (named after Yama-uba, which Jynx is based on)
Electabuzz/Electivire - Dynamo (A kind of electric generator)
Gyarados - Midgardsorm (One of the names of Jörmungandr and also the 6th boss of The Ocean Hunter)
Lapras - Ahuizotl (Legendary creature in Aztec myth and also the 4th boss in The Ocean Hunter)
Porygon line - Deep_Red (Named after the supercomputer, Deep Blue)
Kabutops - Lantis (Red/Blue beta name)
Snorlax - Totoro (Titular character of My Neighbor Totoro)
Dragonite - Yoshi (From that schoolyard myth in the old days)
