Considering it's now been leaked to the public, the chances of a future gen appearance is probably FUBAR. Makes me wonder if Leafeon would have been drastically different had this beta leaked prior to Gen IV.

Because it's still an unused design they could always come back to. Leafeon was practically ten years old by the time it was used for D/P/Pt.

And who knows if there are Gen 7 Pokemon that are actually from unused concepts scrapped decades ago.

If you think about it, this little guy probably was redesigned into Mimikyu. Both wear, for all intents and purposes, disguises that make them look like something they're not and have mysterious bodies underneath their disguises.
