The only people I trust to design a pokémon game are unironically Game Freak, as at least they understand what the series is all about pretty decent games as a facilitator to making a fucktonne of cash every Generation through all it's associated pursuits.

Because the original 151 are more iconic than the region they were first seen. Settings and landmarks in Pokemon games are less important, especially if they have a choice to make a new region from the ground up instead.

Not to mention worldbuilding's gotten too big and it'd be a shame to leave that behind.
