It's pretty much just Emerald story-wise (...because it's pretty much Emerald), but it's a 386 hack with some future-gen features like properly-capitalized names ("Zigzagoon used Tackle!" instead of "ZIGZAGOON used TACKLE!"), the Physical/Special split being implemented, Fairy Type being implemented with appropriate Pokemon typeshifted, later-gen moves and learnsets implemented to go along with said Phys/Spec splitting and Fairy type, reuseable TMs, et cetera.
Good for if you're feeling nostalgic for the good parts of the best game of Gen 3 but keep stumbling over places where later gens improved the formula.
Oh, also, most of the gym leaders are a lot harder, and actually attempt to cover up their weaknesses. You can't just go into Brawly with naught but a single Swellow and expect to survive the encounter anymore.
