How would you guys feel if Gamefreak decided to simplify some of the more complicated evolution methods? Is it important that cross-generation evolutions take place under circumstances which were not possible in previous games?
Take Eevee, for instance. In Generation I, eevee has three evolutions caused by elemental stones. Every time Eevee gained a new evolution, it was tied into a new game mechanic in that didn't exist in previous games in order to keep each evolution method strictly canon. You couldn't ask why Eevee didn't evolve with high friendship in Red and Blue because that mechanic didn't exist in those games.
How would you feel if Eevee evolved into Umbreon using a Moon Stone, or Espeon using a Sun Stone? What if Steelix and Scizor were simple trade evolutions without requiring Metal Coat?
Similarly, what if you could breed all baby Pokemon without the corresponding incense? Would you welcome a reduction in all of those nearly useless, hard-to-find items? Or does it rankle your autism?
