Seems like it'll happen again in LGPE too. This battle clearly takes place on Nugget Bridge, but this single Venonat is at a lower level compared to every Pokemon there in the original. Though the huge level difference should speak for itself.

The original version of the Bug Catcher had a Caterpie, Weedle, Kakuna, and Metapod all around levels 11-12. I'm not sure if this is actually worse.

Terrible indeed, and the one thing that really irks me about ORAS. Ruby and Sapphire were already particularly easy games 80% of the time, so the source material is largely to blame here, but throwing 3 generations of moves and mechanics on an unchanged difficulty curve is not a pretty sight. I think the the only ones to gain from the transition were Wattson getting Volt Switch (which can run you over if you don't have an electric resist), and the Elite 4 with their increased levels and actually being allowed to have good moves.

The Pokemon with highest HP you can feasibly have at that point is Hariyama, as Makuhita evolves at 24.

Hariyama can tank about six of these, with 103HP at Lv. 24 with 0IV and 0EVs.

Mossdeep Gym is meant to test the player skill in a double battle, since the 4 pokemon of the Gym Leaders take full advantage of the format and of the abilities. Claydol can spam EQ because all of his teammates are immune to it, meanwhile Xatu can be annyoing with Calm Mind or Sunny Day and while Solrock and Lunatone didn't change from RS, now they can use the set up from the previous pokemon and can recover HP thanks to Sitrus Berry.

Just another double battle. This time it means even less than in RS because it's been a decade since double battles were introduced and making them challenging should be the norm not the exception.

I always thought it'd be cool if future gyms had a thematic focus rather than just type based. Like, one gym could challenge you with double battles with actual strategies like Follow Me/Helping Hand spam mixed with good synergy opponents. Another could be weather themed, or things like that.

I guess probably Unova overall.
Kanto is pretty easy, with Sabrina being the only real standout. Their Elite 4 is some tough shit at least.
Johto has some strong contenders with Whitney and Clair, but most of the others are pretty easy.
Emerald Hoenn is probably second place, but RS and ORAS versions are easy as fuck.
I honestly barely remember Sinnoh's, but I never had a problem with any of them.
I haven't bothered going through Kalos a second time without Exp Share.
