One of the first rival fights my starter was lvl 20 against Hau's lvl 12. I didn't grind at all and didn't use exp share. Everything is underleveled and blaming exp share for it is retarded. OP is retarded

They wanted to make the game easy for brainlets and they made everything underleveled except for Ultra Necrozma. They give you Hawlucha with perfect attack IV just before the first trial, not Zubat before the second one etc just in case you are blind and missed that huge Z move on the left side. Remove exp share and you will still have your Pokemon have 10 levels over rivala and 10-15 over trainers in routes. Them having shitty pokemon with shitty moves and terrible AI doesn't help.

I turned off exp share, set battle mode to "set" refused to use healing items in battle, refused to use refresh, and I ended up enjoying the games a lot more. They were actually hard, I was underleveled the whole game, and I actually had to use strategy. If you think the games are easy, you are missing out by not doing these

Well then at least follow the same rules as the NPCs. They don't get a free switch in to a pokemon advantageous to the pokemon you send out. Only in extremely rare cases do they use items, basically boss trainers will have 1-2 full restores and 1 full heal. The NPCs' pokemon don't love them so much they get a hit that gives them free crits or live fatal attacks. If you just limit yourself to that at least you might be in a tough situation every once in a while.
