Designs suck ass though.
I don't play pokemon for the landscape and routes and else, I play pokemon for the designs of the damned pokemon and hoenn fails miserably.
Also there is no variety.
How can I enjoy a game and region where I don't see anything that icatches my attention and just boring stuff that I go "meh" or "that mon is crap" all the time? even if you leave out the memes of too much water and trumpets.

I have yet to beat sinnoh and hoenn because of those designs that literally don't catch my attention at all. And no I don't praise gen VI or VII either, exactly the same reason why I didn't bother getting a 3ds yet so far. I don't like most of the new dex in those gens.

Unova isn't diverse at all, it has seasons which are neat but the actual areas are really similar. Kalos is also split in 4 disjointedly. Off the top of my head, Hoenn has jungles, desert, volcano, seafloor, ash, mist, along with all the regular areas from other pokemon games which transitions among each other gracefully.

I love most of new pokemon there especially some awesome bug and steel types, I love the story, atmosphere, events, faster pace without shitty cutscenes interrupting me etc.

HGSS/Platinum

Tie for a second place. HGSS has better atmosphere but I don't like how it lacks good electric types to get early (and the good one looks like shit). Platinum is like BW2 but less polished in every way and I prefer some gen V pokemon and new moves and abilities.

USUM
Shiny hunting is well made and I like how it's easier to train competitive pokemon. I love some new pokemon and Giovanni was awesome. No bullshit with HMs was also really nice. I wish it was harder and had less cutscenes that you can skip.

Obviously I played enough hoenn to know and also saw what pokemon are available of the gen. I gave up by the 5th gym, but I don't remember exactly why.
I am gonna complete the pokedex though, so I got to play emerald again, so I guess I'll find out what happened.

Only if you have rose-tinted nostalgia for them. If you don't, they come off as half-baked and boring, as there's nothing to do, the story is short and poorly written, the characters are extremely one-dimensional, the wild Pokémon roster is HORRENDOUS, the level-curve is almost non-existent, and even though the Pokéathlon is GOAT it doesn't make up for the removal of Contests, Secret Bases, cooking minigames, Berry planting, the Underground, etc. Not to mention that it fixes almost zero of the original's problems, which is exactly what a remake should fucking focus on most of all.

Problem of sinnoh is both characters to use are meh imo, the pokemon are meh to bland and terrible too. I liked the anime of DPPt but honestly the pokemon designs never excited me much.
I am only gonna complete it because I need to complete my physical dex before I retire, to leave in peace. knowing that Gf is gonna suck the dick of GO fags forever and ever now may be the last starw, so may as well finish unended business and be at peace knowing I played what I liked and completed the dex up to White.

I have no one to trade with and you can't trade using emulators between yourself locallly, so I am not gonna pokegen pokemon for eternity manually over and over to "simulate" trades just to have the physical dex in LG, emerald, SS, plat, and white.

I can pal park from fire red and leaf green to SS without any bullshit after several years, so I was thinking I'll compelte the dex in SS then just rearrange the boxes in White (which already has all of the BW local dex except events, I only have victini legit) and be done.
I know I am not gonna get legit event pokemon but at least I can do the effort of evoliving and collecting and trading for all I can playing emerald and platinum then using that user made gts yo try and get the ones I am missing hopefully.

I would have agreed with you until I saw YX at 3rd. XY is one, if not the worst in the series. RGBY aged poorly and has the most autistic fans in the series but at least its flaws are partially justified by its age and it tried something new. XY has no identity beyond being a Kanto circle jerk with some new pokemon and megas(which is a great idea) and is the opposite to BW because it has the worst story in Pokemon.

I didn't like gen VI and VII much less am I buying virtual console roms just for nostalgia. I am 32 though and been playing since RBY but they aren't gonna hook this fish.
I want pokemon from RBY and GS to do a stadium run, and the VC stuff is unable to deliver that. Hopefully you can emulate the transfer pack now, so I have been working on beating every cup in stadium 1, and I already beat the gym leader castle once.

Saves are interchangeable, and you can use PKHeX to transfer directly from any emulator save to any gen 7 save

A lot of people are saying BW 1/2.
I couldn't stand pretty much anything about it.
What is it that people like about these games?
I'm genuinely curious because to me they just seem pretty trubbish.

BW2 were the first "third versions" that didn't invalated the original games, both are worth playing.

BW1 is like Red/Blue in a sense, there's only new Pokemon, so you feel excitement over every encounter and new locations.

BW2 expands the map with new places and makes the Unova region less like a circular loop, seeing the region years later is like seeing Kanto in Gold/Silver, noticing all the little and big changes is interesting, overall it's just a nice game with a good balance of content compared to what we got later on.

that's another thing i keep seeing
its literally the same recycled legendary plot they have been using since gen 3, except this time you fight the evil team at the end instead of before the 8th gym

I guess you never actually liked the mon but just pretended to like it just to like something. While Typhlosion is no longer my number one favorite, i still like it. My top favorites are Basculin and Aegislash.
