I was poor as hell back around 10-12 years ago, we always bought rice, beans and everything for cooking and my mother always cooked it everytime. Chicken and vegetables and all that stuff, we just never had steaks or very rarely. So she was able to feed my sister and I perfectly despite us being poor because she used her money wisely instead of wasting it in instant ramen, pizzas or tacos.
