It's not a design that is widely appreciated because its aesthetic is rooted into shintoist guardian statues, which many westerners don't recognize, and the steam energy theme isn't immediately recognizable, but it's an extremely functional pokemon that plays and works exactly as it was designed to be.
Solgaleo on the other hand is a straight up disgrace of a design, gameplay wise. The sun and sunlight have been clearly connected to fire since the introduction of Sunny Day, yet the legendary Pokemon that has a strong connection with it... is weak to fire and doesn't benefit from sun weather! What a joke.
