Haven't been on this board in a while and i wanted to ask something that me and my friends were getting into; Does anyone like gen 6? Let alone think it's the BEST gen? I mean all the other gens have reasonable arguments from various fans as to why they're their favorites, even fucking gen 1. But i can't think of any redeeming factor to gen 6. What do you guys think? If there's anyone here that DOES love gen 6 a d think it's the best, could you explain why? I'd honestly love to know

Well that's pushing it a bit, it does a couple things best but saying it's the overall best compared to other very best gens is tough. It is however my favorite because exploring the world in actual 3D3D was a new and exciting thing for me considering I skipped V's half-assed attempt at that and the resulting technical issues that resulted from that change didn't bother me. My next favorite thing about it would be a bunch of mons that I never figured out why /vp/ hated so much like Klefki, the Goodra line, and Xerneas while I also liked other popular designs such as Noivern, Gogoat, Sylveon, Malamar, Honedge and Talonflame. Notfrance was an acceptable enough setting, and appears heavenly in comparison to Hawaii and likewise the Starters even if I don't like the Grass line it a massive improvement to the gen IV, V, and retroactively the gen VII starters. All in all being the Pokemon game that brought me back into the series after being disappointed with DP and skipping every game from BW to XY is probably what sets it apart so it's more of a personal reason as to why I like the gen so much. I liked XY. The mon designs, comfy region, and overworld soundtrack were solid. Plus they're the most fun to nuzlocke.

I like Kalos as a region despite it feeling a bit incomplete. I also like all the Pokémon from gen 6, it's apparent they went with a quality over quantity mindset with X and Y.

Of course there are people who like gen 6. Hell the first year of it was the last time /vp/ was good.
As for reasons why people would like it, the gen mechanically was the perfect pokemon game where everything was quick and easy on the ev/iv and grinding side of things especially with super training offering reset bags.

I liked XY probably as much as I liked DP, not great but not abyssmal

I actually disliked ORAS more than XY but I don't think that's too popular of an opinion

Trips, but also I should add to this that although I didn't like DP I rate Platinum way above them and Sinnoh is my favourite region and Sinnoh-mons are amongst the best

XY peak at the aestethics while maintaining the 2.5D aspect.
Much better than ORAS graphics.
The routes are short, but it is more complicated as there are multiple levels, or in a simpler ones they put a lot of effort in scenery. Hence the bench sitting.
Some of the mon design is great, also the PSS system.
The customization of trainer is a good thing too, and the battles styles are interesting (like the restaurants).
It may be lacking, but not on it's own.
It's just like alola-it may need to be bigger, at the same time it holds enough for itself.

I haven't thought about whether or not I like Gen 6 more then Gen 3, which was my previous favourite generation, but I think I do. XY were pretty mediocre and boring games but ORAS were content packed, like the originals, but had all the new modern features at the time aside from customization. Having The PSS, the ability to battle and trade over wifi in the best region alone sold it for me. Then you had the IMO better color pallet, I think the games looked great. Also had secret bases and contest, and Dexnav and soaring and much more. These were probably my favourite games in the series, or tied witg HGSS.

TL;DR XY were midocre, ORAS were great

I know people are going to disagree because liking ORAS is apparently a meme but I just really don't care. Battle Frontier wasn't that important to me

Would have liked to see the battle factory, but after seeeing how bad it was in USM, I'm kinda glad it wasn't in ORAS
