Honestly I never used a held item and I beat every single game. They just filled my bag that needed room for better items like full restores, max revives, max elixers, x items etc. They kinda sucked anyway lmao.

That's not hold items. You use evolution stones to evolve some pokemon but the pokemon don't hold the items. You just go to bag, go to evolution stone, click use, select the pokemon you want to evolve with it then the pokemon evolves.

Yea it's a remake, not just the same game as the original. It should have all the most modern things and even additions to the game. FRLG had hold items and it was also a remake of Gen 1.
