I let go of the games back in gen 6. If I need a quick fix of Pokemon I just play a fangame or have a tabletop campaign with buddies.

not yet, I'm willing to give it one more chance with gen 8. Besides Let's Go, SM were the first games to disappoint me and it wouldn't take much to get the series back on track.

i was just curious. i havent "let go" of the series fully, i still replay gens 3-5 all the time (and the pmd games) but the direction pokemon is going in currently makes me want to walk away from the franchise and never look back

Because Pokemon was great prior to Gen 6. Though I'm at a point now where if Gen 8 ends up being more of the same bullshit from Gen 6, 7, or god forbid LPGE, I'm just going to drop the series entirely.

Maybe R/B or GSC. Those games encouraged me to read more. I picked up more books because of Pokémon. but then again, I'm also on 4chan posting on what is essentially a furry pedo containment board.

After that dissapoinment that RS was I definetly dropped the series althogether at teh point I didn't even knew that Emerald got released but it was a combination of 2 big factors that pulled me back in

1. I got "bamboozled" by the marketing of Pokemon MD, I explicity renember reading the phrase "is a Pokemon game that plays Like Zelda", seriously who could resist that altough MD was great tho

2. Gen 4: Gen 4 might be hated here to hell and back but that whole generation is my favorite by far, yes it has it's downsides but that gen brought me so many great things that I just love it

that's why I'm still trapped in here.

Sadly, this. It's honestly what I've clung to, to not just give up when my mother died a few years back. I was a fucking shut in at that point so it was either find a reason to live or just die.

I've honestly had to stay away from some of the people I'm subbed to when they've made videos about LGP/LGE because they make me want to die very badly and I can't take people praising them. At the very least I don't want to do that until my brother is back on his feet because he's living with me currently and has nowhere else to go.

So I'm just burying myself in the old games and other games (which I was playing anyway, but Pokémon no longer holds it's 8+ hours a day slot) so I don't have to think about how the series is going to end up much.
