Why do starterwarfags care so much about where their Gen 7 starter placed on some popularity contest? If you like a Pokémon, that should be what matters, not a glorified list– rigged results or not. Hell, I say this as someone who’s favorite ‘mon is Porygon-Z of all things.

Sure, there's asshole catfags and sealfags, but it's mostly one assblasted owlfag who really got butthurt Decidueye didnt' end up the next Greninja and goes assmad on Incineroar since so far Incineroar's gotten the lion's share of starter attention from Game Freak and ended up a competitive king in the games. Unlike most owlfags who are clearly falseflaggers (a relic of the starter leak era in fall 2016 when most people had only designs to go on but pre-stat dump), this guy's a true believer. People do get tired of his heeing and hawing and debate him, but he always comes back worse than before.

It's a tribal thing. Lonely people want to belong somewhere so they pretend they're part of their starter groups that fights against other starter groups. It's also just a few, loud, sad individuals.

You can get away with Incineroar and Primarina. People will still shitpost a bit, but defenders/people who like them WILL pop up and talk to you about them. It's actually Decidueye that's completely collapsed as a fanbase/mon able to be talked on sincerely.
