Actually Satoshi's win against Matis might be the only legitiimate excuse for why Musashi and Kojiro continue to chase a Pikachu Sakaki never asked them to. The only reason they started chasing it at first was because it led out a huge attack that was charged by an electric generator and a hundred other Pikachus, but when it went up against Matis' Raichu it actually managed to beat its evolved, superior form fair and square. Musashi and Kojiro were even asking in the episode if Pikachu can't beat Raichu than why are they still chasing it. [/weeb]

Hit or miss depending on what the plot has to say. Should logically be Ash's strongest Pokémon but the writers have to balance his team to create a sense of challenge.

And it always felt inconsistent to me. Charmander should probably have the strongest bond with ash considering what it went through with it's last trainer, then overnight it turned into an edgy brat. Same with chimchar, Ash basically saved its ass, and then it would get all edgy with blaze. Now they're pulling the same shit with lycanroc, but I don't know the circumstances because I stopped watching that shit

He released it between his 3rd and 4th gym badge so it could go fuck a pink Butterfree slut. He never replaced it with anything (although he temporarily had a Primeape on his team) and made it through the rest of Kanto with a 5-mon team (technically a 4-mon team since Charizard stopped listening to him when it evolved).

Ash helped Lycanroc learn to control it's rage and it now recieves a power-up whenever it's eyes start glowing red. It's basically the Hulk.

Did he really beat the Raichu fair and square, though? They had to cripple the Raichu by not allowing it to have access to the moves that allowed Pikachu to win. Fair and square wouldn't be deliberately holding back moves from one to let the other have an advantage. Besides, a Raichu would still be faster than a Pikachu, more experienced than Ash's Pikachu, and would still hit much harder. The battle should've been over before Agility would've made a difference.

It's more MC plot armor for Pikachu. It's just not nearly as blatant as some of his other fights.

The Big Five (Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Pidgeotto) and a rotation of mons - usually Muk or Kingler come the Pokemon League. Ash's team in Kanto was basically the five I mentioned and a sixth mon of the period.
