i'm a lickitung enthusiast so there's no bias but honestly i hate it. it looks like something i drew in a notebook in high school and it's definitely worse than lickilicky. and i don't like lickilicky either.

I heard the reason it was cut is because of it being based on a Persian Carpetseller stereotype (With it's tongue being depicted as a rug), can anyone elaborate on this stereotype since I've never heard it before

I personally think the beta evo is terrible, but interesting. Glad we didn't get it though.

Lickilicky is also terrible. At least Lickitung resembles an actual lizard.

You basically hit the nail on the head. Both Proto-Lick and Lickilicky lack Lickitung's superb silhouette by shrinking and dramatically simplifying his tail while just making him generically more round and reducing anatomy to basic flat shapes.

I don't think it was cut for that reason, but it's definitely more reminiscent of a turbaned man holding an unrolling rug (it's tongue) than anything else.

I hate it. One of the few designs (Throh/Sawk, Aromatisse, and Slurpuff are some others) that I actively dislike -- most designs I'm usually just neutral on.
Lickilicky just looks more like a baby form than a true evolution. Lickitung looks like a biological creature rather than just a circle with limbs. I suppose I could even forgive it if the tongue -- Licktung's most prominent feature -- was longer.
