>Mega Latios's great Speed tier and offensive stats make it a premier check to several threats in the OU metagame such as Keldeo, Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Moreover, its excellent offensive typing, high-powered STAB attacks, and vast range of coverage options make Mega Latios a formidable offensive threat in its own right, able to threaten defensive staples like Toxapex, Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, and Zapdos. Mega Latios also sports numerous type resistances, great bulk, and access to recovery, enabling it to act as a solid pivot into Water-, Grass-, Electric-, and Fire-type attacks. Mega Latios' higher Attack allows it to 2HKO common switch-ins to Latios with Earthquake, such as AV Magearna and Tyranitar after Stealth Rock and Spikes damage. It can also OHKO Heatran. base forme Latios is also a decent pick, mostly by the same reasons of its Mega forme, but it suffers stiff competition to stand out. Basically, last gen you'd preffer to run life orb latios because not only was it stronger, it allowed you to keep your mega slot for other, more powerful shit like megagross, or megazard. Nowadays, non-mega mons like landorus, ash-greninja, magearna and koko are so powerful without consuming a mega slot that you might not even need to use a mega at all to make a top tier team, and might preffer mega latios' enhanced bulk and physical attack just because. Still, last time I checked this current gen, latios was still more viable than megalatios and megalatias was still a better, bulkier defogger, so maybe I'm out of the loop too.
