>>35923824He claims it's harmful because it IS harmful. The reveal was supposed to be a complete surprise--you know, like a reveal. For weeks before the official reveal, there was already strong evidence that a specific title with specific features existed. Sure, we knew we were getting a Kanto game at some point, but the extent to which we learn "hey, this is probably going to happen" through leaks can legitimately damage a company's reputation and weaken press coverage, the surprise factor, and the spreading of the game's existence via word-of-mouth, thus weakening the hype and potential sales. Not to forget to mention it can cost the company time and money to hunt down the leaker(s) and to cover legal action, and it would of course cost them the employee(s) who was good enough for them to hire full-time.
Admittedly, as exciting as it can be to ride on a baseless rumor that gets a bit of credibility to eventually get confirmed, it's just very harmful to the company.
Yes, I work in the game industry.
And no, I do not ride Joe's dick. I don't like him either, but for different reasons.
